It is hard to know where to start this review. It was my third time to Cocoon In The Park. This time we were staying in a hotel in the centre of Leeds. This trip there were four of us. It has been raining quite a lot recently, hasn’t it? However, I recall last year that it had also been raining the week before, albeit not quite as much, and heavy showers were forecast last year for Cocoon In the Park but magically missed us, so I assumed that was all down to the magic of Sven, and assumed he … Continued

These are the best videos kindly uploaded by other Cocoon In The Park folks to Youtube. It is a pretty reasonable description of my best day of 2011 which has put me on such a high all week. I hope you enjoy. I will also compile a list of the tunes played at some point. The ones with stars are my particular favourite moments if you only have time for a few. Oh if you want to watch them all continuously, they are on my Youtube channel – this link should work – let me know if it doesn’t as … Continued
Yes it was. (I hope Cocoon In The Park don’t mind me stealing this photo from their Facebook page – I am terrible at the best of times taking my own photos) I have that big warm glow in my heart that I do every time I go to Cocoon (or fabric). Surprisingly though, there was a negative in that it wasn’t as well run as last year. One of the comments many said last year was just how ridiculously well run and efficient it was – German standards rather than English…this year it was English standards! It wasn’t bad, … Continued
I am expecting this mission to be somewhat interesting, to say the least. I am not going with everything I wanted, nor am I going with everyone I wanted. In fact, I am going by myself. I am going to a foreign town without any of my 5 or so friends, or is that 50 or so? Their loss… Leeds isn’t really foreign, even though I am from Hull – sworn enemies when it comes to football. Leeds is cool though, and Reading should really take notice. Not for the identikit Topman/Topshop 80% of it, but for the difference to … Continued
Oh, Maggie, thank you ever so much. I have just read an interview with her, back in 1976, a full 3 years before she became Prime Minister. It is a fascinating read, if you have the time. She really was on the ball. So many comparisons between then and now. Just one quote for my blog, in reply to the interviewer’s question of “There are those nasty critics, of course, who suggest that you don’t really want to bring them [incumbent Labour government] down at the moment. Life is a bit too difficult in the country, and that … leave them … Continued
This is my new hero. A man called Joshua Seater, urinated in a resevoir, causing it to be emptied of it’s 8 million gallons of water… I had a lovely 12 hour sleep last night though I think I needed it to help me recover from the weekend, given that Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights I probably totalled 12 hours too. Work is a little quieter than normal this week so I am going to take the opportunity to catch up with my training hours. Outside of work is also very quiet, though that is mainly self-enforced due to the … Continued
I like to think I am good at writing but I am not convinced that I can do Saturday justice. I have been to so many Cocoon nights over the last 6 years; Ibiza (6 times), London (4 times), Birmingham (twice), and Frankfurt. And seen so many amazing DJs and performers; Loco Dice, Laurent Garnier, Steve Bug, Luciano, Onur Ozer, Len Faki, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Reboot, Minilogue, Extrawelt…and of course Sven! During the years one by one I have introduced so many friend to Cocoon, some of whom were a little reluctant at first, but all of whom have loved … Continued
