tINI & Guti at Factory7, Shoreditch

tINI was one of my heroes of 2012, with her weekly radio show in Ibiza and amazing, fresh underground house music and her free parties, she was my number 1 recent discovery. Twice I was supposed to see her for the first time last year, both in Ibiza and fabric, but both times for stupid reasons I didn’t make it. I was massively excited all last week, especially given how it was 9 weeks since I had been on a dancefloor and the cravings were overwhelming. I just about managed to not get wasted on Friday night and even had … Continued

2015 General Election

Pennine Bridleway signpost on Clegg Moor

The keen-eyed and eared amongst you will have noticed that the campaign for the 2015 general election has recently begun in earnest. You know where I stand – I am a Tory.  A modern and liberal one.  Yes – there are different types! I have been musing over possible results. The preferred option for me, is of course a Conservative majority.  So we can finish off fixing the country’s problems and the economy and all enjoy the benefits of a lot of hard work and painful, necessary decisions (inequality down in this government so far). It doesn’t look likely though. … Continued

January’s James Cuisine

One of the things on my 2013 list of goals to achieve that I still haven’t written because I actually have work to do at work, is to greatly increase the amount of new dishes I learn to cook. Last year I did maybe one new dish a month at a push, the aim now is one a week. Here are the results: This is fried fruit (fruit in a frying pan – who knew you could do that?!) with some kind of spice on top of crumpets.  I liked the fruit but the crumpets were pretty crap.  Very strange to … Continued

Samsung No Fun

modern smartphone triple camera close up shot

I’m not really getting any inspiring responses from my complaints at the moment, this is about the best I have had recently: Dear Sir I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 last year. It is a fantastic piece of technology. However – two major problems. 1. I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. Its ok, its only a phone, I can deal with it. However – my previous phones from other manufacturers have not had the same issue with far more stress to them. 2. Typing. You recently released a new firmware update and now the way I text has … Continued

The New Coat Hangers…

…I know you have been dying to know which color I went for. Well that is the highlight of my weekend done.  Unless of course one of my FA Cup accumulators comes in – I had 4 of them and I could win anywhere between £86.00 and £6,074.00.  Which will pay for my new mp3 player. I also found a bargain in Sainsburys in town, 50 blank Sony CDRs for less than £5 – a third of their original price. Perfect excuse to mention Free House Project.  Saturday 2nd February 2013 8:30pm to 1am. Please come.  I will have lots … Continued

Forecasting During The Cold Snap

frosty industrial building in wernigerode

I love the extremes of weather and that is what drives me to do my weather forecasting – that and the belief that people should have access to the same level of information that I do, not just what the major agencies dare tell them. I do have a slight advantage – if I get it wrong, I am not going to lose a major weather forecasting contract, I may have a couple less likes on Facebook or someone might tell me I’m shit – but I won’t lose thousands of pounds or a job, etc.  Therefore I can say … Continued

Ah ah ah ah staying in?

modern irons aligned on camouflage pattern boards

It’s that time of week where with nothing special planned for the weekend, I need to think about whether I go out or stay in. Staying in is a very attractive prospect. I have lots of things coming up – Free House Project, tINI and Guti, drunken catch up with my lovely friend Julie whom I have known nearly 15 years, Ellie’s leaving drinks plus more I am sure that I have forgotten to list so a rest and time to catch up on all those household jobs would be very welcome. Also my bank balance is closer to zero … Continued

Being 33

Happy birthday to me,Happy birthday to me,Happy birthday beautiful, amazing me, Have a pint of gravy. OK so my birthday was yesterday but I am so busy and behind with everything – I haven’t even finished writing my review of 2012 yet. Thank you for all my wishes, I hope I have responded to them all individually (Facebook makes everything more difficult). I had two wishes for my birthday, well realistic ones anyway – hot water and gravy. Firstly the heating miraculously starting working overnight on Monday so hot water returned (though still pretty damn cold in my house thanks to heating politics). And … Continued

Working From Home

a person using a laptop

Today was the first day that I have ever worked from home. The company I work for nowadays are actually organised enough to prepare for such eventualities and gave me a laptop on Thursday evening so I could work from home if the snow got bad…and with the huge amount  of work that I have on at the moment, a snow day is the last thing I need. Needless to say I liked it.  No getting to 530pm and thinking, now I need to get the train and walk lots in the cold…straight to the fridge to pour a glass … Continued

At Last – A Good Reason To Find A Girlfriend…

Finally I have good reason to require a girlfriend: Either to make sure my increasingly super-colourful wardrobe does not clash with these beauties. Or to stop me buying even crazier items. I’m not sure!
