The Future Is Fracking. And My Future Is Fracking

a pumpjack extracting oil out of an oil well

I have thought long and hard about this decision since last night and have decided that I should get involved with the Fracking industry, as this should be the future of energy supplies in the UK. Clearly I do not have a 1 kilometre long pipe, or a drill, or any suitable chemicals to pump under the ground so I am using the knowledge I do have to create a forum to discuss fracking as it is a tiny bit controversial but is the future of affordable energy in this country. Hopefully I will create a burgeoning website/forum in time … Continued

My Clubbing Drought

cracked earth symbol of severe drought

I am officially in a severe clubbing drought. I have only been clubbing in London twice this year. I have only seen one DJ that I can say was outstanding, Nina Kraviz.  One of my favourite DJs was a total let-down.  No Shoreditch day-time sessions, no roadtrips for great parties in other cities and Ibiza is just an unaffordable pipe-dream, I’m as likely to go to Space as I am to…space (on Virgin Galactic). And I have not been to fabric since November 2012.  What the fuck is that about?  My favourite dancefloor in the world, the room that I … Continued

Back To Work

My holiday is over.  I am back to work.  I arrived back to 430 e-mails in my inbox. I feel very chilled out right now.  I feel like I have been to Jamaica.  I look like I have been to Jamaica.  Yeah man I can get that invoice to you.  Pay me whenever, Winston. I might have 430 new e-mails but they’ve mostly all been resolved so I don’t have a large blunt’s worth of work to catch up with. Yes I am feeling remarkably chilled out. I had a very pleasant week off.  Did lots of sunbathing.  I bought … Continued

Mystery Box

Two blogs in one day?  Two blogs in one month is a rarity nowadays.  I hope you feel blessed. My housemate and myself have made an important summer purchase. We have purchased a BBQ. This means that there will be BBQs and barbeques at my house this summer.  With live DJs. Better than DC10? It will probably take us until around October to put it together and get around to arranging one though. In the meantime, the observant amongst you will have noticed that I have made another important purchase to take me back to one of my more innocent … Continued

Bad Habits

I’ve been getting into bad habits again recently.  Sausage rolls, donuts, muffins, sausage andbacon sandwiches, bacon and egg pittas (though pitta cancels out bacon Ithink?), cakes, chocolate, crisps, midweek beers, Monday beers, Thursdayciders, stealing money from the collection pots at church to buy narcotics.   And then there is what I haven’t been doing.  Blogging, studying, website work, exercising(yes I do some now and again), clubbing, dancing, DJing (actually I am doingmore than before but not enough), sorting out my music collection, buyingsocks, public farting, cooking properly, new DJ mixes.   What I am doing lots of is working.  … Continued

An Explanation Of The Beauty Of Football

What does it say when approximately 10 times more friends offer their condolences upon the death of Margaret Thatcher than offer their congratulations upon the promotion of my football team, Hull City? My conclusion is that many of my mostly Berkshire/London based contingent of friends whom may have been excluded from such working class delights of football simply do not understand, or that the fact that most of my friends were gained from time spent in nightclubs, and the promotion having been achieved on the Saturday, they were simply too hungover/drunk to have any vague appreciation that it was happening.  … Continued

What Coals Around Comes Around

Yes fantastic news – 590 coal miners are losing their jobs in Scotland.  Let’s get out on the streets and party, celebrate throughout the night.  I’ll get on the case and get some Facebook events set up. Dig dong they’ve lost their jobs! I am being facetious.  The only time I celebrate unemployment is either my own (assuming a nice redundancy package) or every time Chelsea or Blackburn sack another manager as that is hilarious and good for the economy and the transfer of money from Russia/India to the UK. I actually would like to see the reversal of those … Continued

Margaret Thatcher

I guess this blog post is nearly as long-expected as dearest Margaret’s passing away. I thought about doing a post last Monday night about her influence on the country, her legacy, etc, but there was so much commentary elsewhere that I decided against adding to the wealth of opinion.  I wouldn’t exactly have been breaking new ground by arguing how she saved the country. The question I would prefer to answer is why I personally hold Lady Thatcher in such a high regard despite coming from the north of the country and why I revere her so much – why … Continued

Austerity Weekends

I don’t like 5 weekend months. I have to budget nowadays.  Long gone is the post-redundancy spend what I feel like kind of budgeting.  I have to be responsible nowadays. As soon as I get paid, I subtract £480 for rent, £120 for bills, £60 per Friday for food shopping and £26.60 per full week for train fare to work.  Whatever I have left is my fun money. I could have spread it out equally over all 5 weekends with roughly £100 a weekend, enough for one night of fun (out of my fun money also comes other unexpected expenditure … Continued

The Iron Lady – Book Review

It has taken me more than a year to get around to writing my first ever blog book review. You all should know that I love Margaret Thatcher. So imagine my joy when I received a book on The Iron Lady at Christmas before last. I do not actually remember the last time that I read a book, certainly not a 555 page book that goes deep into political analysis – my busy life tends to mean that I don’t have time for much more than The Economist and Mixmag, but 6 months of unemployment certainly gave me the time … Continued
