Skint. Again!

red diagonal stripes

So I am skint again.  I have enough for rent, bills, food and the train to work but my fun budget for the rest of the month is just £14.00. I knew it was coming.  I spent wildly during the last 6 weeks of 2013, with 3 trips to London and 1 to Manchester, plus Christmas presents and some treats for myself.  I had a lot of fun though. There is something perversely enjoyable about being skint, it’s a bit like getting sunburnt. I enjoy the challenge of making what little money I do have last.  There is much more … Continued

Review of 2013 Goals

unfocused blur orange light dots on black background

It only took me until August to write down my goals for 2013.  I’ve been busy this year, and seemingly more productive. I find setting goals for my life at the beginning of the year helpful – writing them down reminds me during the year of what I am trying to achieve. In grey are my original goals – in black is the reality. 1. Continue to do well at work and beat targets.  At some point though I do need to increase how much I earn. I pretty much kicked the arse out of my targets at work.  Refreshing … Continued

Welcome To All Romanians & Bulgarians

Romanian Dancers at Southampton Mela Festival

I appreciate that I am a few days late but I would like to formally welcome citizens of Romania and Bulgaria to the free movement of labour within the European Union that I am proud to be a part of. Some will of course fear you taking their jobs, stealing their benefits but I am not so negative and I embrace immigration. The previous wave of Eastern European Union immigration brought a whole wave of exceptionally attractive young ladies to the UK.  I am of the belief that there are rather attractive young ladies in Bulgaria and Romania too and … Continued

New Year’s Eve at The Egg

There are 3 occasions of the year I despise.  More than any other is Valentine’s Day.  Next up is Halloween.  Then comes New Year’s Eve.  Overpriced and packed with nobheads.  I was reluctant to go out, I really could not afford to do so but eventually I cracked and was persuaded otherwise.  Maybe this would be the night that finally made me appreciate New Year’s Eve. It was the first time that I had been into London for New Year.  We seemed to choose the most convoluted way to get there upon arriving into London Paddington with 2 tubes, 1 … Continued

Say No To Hull Tigers – Hallmark Hotel

luxury hotel room with modern design in dubai

Just in case you have been visiting Mars recently, the owner of my football club, Hull City AFC, has applied to change the name to Hull Tigers. I am James Winfield.  You fuck with the name of my football team.  You fuck with the history and tradition of the football club I support.  You fuck with me. I was made aware this morning that Hallmark Hotels were using the name ‘Hull Tigers’ in their internal information leaflets. I made a call. I followed up with an e-mail. I received the below response within 30 minutes: *** Hello James Thank you … Continued

Resident Advisor Top 100 DJs 2013

dj using sound mixer

So the top 100 DJs have been announced with a pleasantly surprising number 1. There is an alternative top 100 DJs poll by DJ Mag but quite frankly if you like the DJs on that poll then you have a shit taste of music.  Sorry, I mean a different taste in music. Resident Advisor only give 3 days to registered members to vote, and you can only choose DJs from events you have clicked attending to during the year. Beautifully, there isn’t an EDM DJ in sight.  After all, this is the site where Adam Port has more fans than … Continued

Jog On…

shirtless man in black shorts running in the street

I received a surprising message from one of my most trusted advisors this afternoon. “Do you fancy going for a jog this evening?”. I replied, “Sorry I think you have messaged the wrong person”. Apparently not.  The idea of monotonous exercise goes against all of my beliefs but then I have had the spirit of trying new things this year, like mushrooms (not the hallucinogenic kind I should add) and am increasingly doing so, and I thought about the Wright Brothers – if they hadn’t had that spirit of adventure and got on that plane back in 1612 or whenever … Continued

Mullet Update

I thought it was about time that my mullet had some further definition so I have been to get my hair cut, by a ridiculously attractive Eastern European lady of course.   I asked her if this hairstyle was popular in her country, she didn’t know what to say at first. I then advised her that I was a leader in style, and that I had a mohican before David Beckham. She proceeded to advise that it was rather popular many, many years ago. Love me – love my mullet x

My Love Of Extreme Weather

lightning and tornado hitting village

Tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, heatwaves, extreme cold – my passion for the weather goes into overdrive with the fascination I have for extreme weather conditions, whether that be what I experience or what I watch on Youtube. If you know me well enough then you know my dream is to go storm chasing in America. But there is always something at the back of my mind questioning whether it is morally acceptable to receive a form of enjoyment out of an act of nature that others suffer from. I read quite an interesting article which was an interview with someone who went … Continued

James Went To Manchester

So for the first part of proving I am still young enough to handle crazy weekends was a trip to Manchester for the Rugby League World Cup Final. I was first taken to The Boulevard in Hull (sounds nicer than it was but rugby league is not supposed to be glitz and glamour…well except for the cheerleading girls) around the age of 7/8 to watch Hull FC.  This was my upbringing in terms of rugby league. I used to go every week, me and my Dad were season ticket holders at one point.  It being a game mostly played in … Continued
